This month see’s the launch of the third update of the time-lapse video from the £6million Fosters independent living with care scheme for older people in Woodley. This update showcases the significant progress made over the last six months.
The video shows the complete transformation of the site with the external building work now nearing completion, roof trusts being erected. Bill Flood, Managing Director of Wokingham Housing Limited said, “The transformation at Fosters since October is fantastic, this development is being well managed by our contractor, RJ Leighfield, and we are really pleased with the progress made so far. I am looking forward to seeing continued progress on site and sharing this with you in the June footage” Once finished, the two-storey structure will consist of 34 self-contained apartments, all with a private balcony or private ground floor terrace, and with communal facilities for all residents including two lounges and a kitchen and dining room in the common areas.
The apartments will allow older people to live independently with appropriate designated care in the security and privacy of their own home, with the benefit of the additional facilities, as well as permanently on site care staff.
Wokingham Borough Council’s housing development company, Wokingham Housing Limited, is building the scheme, and care will be provided by the Council’s social care company Optalis. Loddon Homes, the Council’s for-profit housing association, will be the owners and housing managers of the completed scheme.
Construction of the Fosters Development is due to be completed in October 2017. The time-lapse video will be updated on a quarterly basis throughout the building of the scheme.
